Stephen is one of the most polite, efficient, punctual workman we have met in years! His work was first class and he worked in a clean and tidy manner clearing up every evening before he went home. We would definitely employ him again and have no hesitation in recommending him. First class all round.

We employed Stephen to project manage the refurbishment of our kitchen/Diner/Utility Room. The work required was extensive and included removing all remnants of the existing kitchen, removing part of a dividing wall, levelling and insulating the floor, insulating and making good walls and ceilings, replacing windows/doors, additional heating and installing new kitchen units and appliances.
Stephen carried out most of the work himself but did call upon the services of skilled and trusted tradespeople where required. His team of electricians, heating engineer, glazing installers and plasterer, when called upon, were professional and did a great job. Stephen has a good relationship with suppliers and co-workers and so there was never any delays waiting for materials or people to turn up. Stephen was always punctual, respectful of our home and devoted one hundred percent of his time to our project.
We are happy with the finished result.

When we decided it was time to extend we interviewed a number of builders. We immediately liked Stephen’s cheery demeanour and friendly nature. Stephen helped us rejig designs to fit our budget and offered advice throughout the project from his previous experiences. With such a large project (3 extensions of varying size), 2 small children and every room of our house being changed it was important that our builder made us feel confident which Stephen did.
Throughout Stephen was always professional, hard working and the quality of his work is top notch. The final build has exceeded our expectations and we’re really glad with the results. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Stephen to anyone thinking about undertaking any building work.

Stephen is a polite, hard working, meticulous and easy going carpenter/kitchen fitter. From the first impression of a lively chatty man when he came to assess and price the job of refitting our kitchen and conservatory – to the last plinth inserted he was a pleasure. Any little- or large- request was dealt with without any fuss or query. He cleared away any mess accumulated during the day and always left the work space tidy.
We are extremely pleased with his work and all the other services he employed.
We highly recommend Stephen and his services.

Stephen recently fitted our lovely new kitchen. He organised all the extras we asked for without any problems and we were happy to go away and leave him to it. His work was of a high standard with no snags at all. In particular he left our home spotlessly clean with no sign of the significant work that had been done. Stephen has done other work for us including installing a loft hatch and ladder, all done to the same high standards and cleanliness.

Stephen and his team have done a great job on our garage conversion. Stephen was friendly, reliable and professional, he listened to what we wanted to achieve and gave advice on what was doable. We would not hesitate to use Stephen again and would highly recommend his services to others.

Stephen, ably assisted by his specialist contacts (roofer, scaffolder, plasterer, brickies, electrician) carried out a superb renovation of our old brick-built outbuildings. Working sympathetically with the existing structure and materials our dilapidated sheds became a fantastic summer house and garden store room.
Stephen is a delight to work with; professional and calm, ingenious and reliable. We have no hesitation in recommending him to anyone looking for a carpenter and general builder.

Stephen came to my rescue when unscrupulous kitchen fitters let me down and tried to overcharge me to add insult to injury. I was feeling very nervous and upset, but Stephen totally understood and not only calmed me down, but undertook all the work in a way that let me relax and took away all the anxiety I’d had. I would recommend him in a heartbeat.

Stephen Nichols – what a find!
Stephen was recommended to us by our kitchen supplier at Buildbase in Norwich. The job involved changing the downstairs layout to incorporate a shower room en suite bedroom, for the wall between the kitchen and dining room to be removed to make a more open space and to fit a new kitchen.
Stephen was a pleasure to work with and filled us with confidence right from the word go. He listened to our brief and gave valuable advice as and when needed. He estimated that the job would take 3 months (major work) and gave us an estimate of how much it would cost, both of which were spot on, although we did add a few extras ourselves.
That 3 months could have been very difficult, but Stephen told us what was happening day by day, he coordinated his team: Simon (plumber) and Rob (electrician) and other tradesmen so that the job ran seamlessly. He did an excellent job as project manager. He did all the preparatory work such as knocking through walls, building new doorways, plaster boarding etc. His work was always precise and correct down to the last millimetre. He tidied up as he went along and kept the dust down to a minimum. He worked miracles, even managing to leave us with our washing machine, sink and cooker right up until the last week. He is very conscious of working in your home and treats it and you with great respect. Nothing was too much bother, and he came up with brilliant ideas to maximise space both in the kitchen and shower room.
We cannot recommend Stephen highly enough, we always looked forward to seeing him daily and found that because of his skill and expertise as a carpenter our kitchen, dining room and shower room look amazing. We are looking forward to working with Stephen again.

As an octogenarian I view building or repair work to my property with trepidation. For some long time a sinister crack in the brick work above my sitting room patio doors had been causing me concern. It’s an old house so it could be a big problem: a lintel to be replaced, at worst, or a complicated repair job, at best. Stephen Nichols was the builder who carried out extensive work, arriving each day clean and bright, leaving covered with red brick dust. Not only did he carry out and complete a complex job, but at the end of each day he left the house all tidied up. At the end of the job he even cleaned my windows and the UPVC surrounds. I had not expected this. It was marvellous and I would recommend Stephen to anyone, not only for his expertise as a builder, but for his politeness and consideration, and ensuring the property is left absolutely spick and span at the end of the work.

Stephen completed a major renovation to our bungalow including a loft conversion and complete new layout to the ground floor. With a young family this could have been a stressful time, but Stephen made the whole process very easy with clear communication and continuous updates of what was being done and what would happen next. Stephens quality of work and attention to detail is exceptional. The project was finished on time, and on budget. We are over the moon with the end result and would not hesitate to recommend him.

Stephen Nichols planned our new Magnet kitchen. He took delivery for us whilst we were out at work, and he assembled and fitted the units and worktops. The kitchen was rewired, and the ceiling was reboarded and plastered.
His work is first class, and he always leaves the premises as clean and tidy as possible at the end of every day.
We would definitely use him again.

Stephen Nichols renovated this property throughout after I purchased it at auction, and then also assisted from concept to completion on the conversion of a lean-to conservatory into a deluxe home office with side room which was a utility/cloakroom.
He is a sympathetic, patient, intelligent builder, who really takes time to understand what his clients want, and then implements it with the minimum of fuss or disruption.
I cannot recommend him highly enough.

From the moment I entered into discussion with Stephen about an extension I felt I was listened to. I had specific needs, the advice given was totally focused on them, with opportunities to change plans during the build with support from Stephen and the amazing team of professional sub-contractors engaged to complete the project.
The whole process seemed seamless, never once did I feel in the way and I appreciate at times the building was probably slowed down by my dementia-diagnosed father who was living in the bungalow during the build; what incredible patience and care you all showed to him.
The work was never messy and at the end of each day everything was clean and tidy.
The cost of the building came in as budgeted without any surprises or hidden costs.
The quality of the build and finished work is outstanding, I come home everyday and smile – thank you for making me not just a beautiful bungalow but the most amazing home.

Stephen Nichols transformed 2 small rooms in the Grade 2* St Catherine’s Church Hall into one large room suitable for meetings. The work was undertaken to a high standard. He has also undertaken maintenance work to the Grade 2* St Catherine’s Church, always to a high standard and all communications with him have been helpful and pleasant. We have no hesitation in recommending Stephen Nichols.
